Maxime Gilbert
Maxime Gilbert is a bilingual French-Canadian writer, producer, and director.
Born in the multicultural suburbs of Montreal in the early 1980s, he discovered a deep passion for cinema at a young age, drawn to the stories behind the camera as much as those on screen.
He went on to direct a number of award-winning short films before making his first feature, "La désolation d’Henri Desmarais" (The Desolation of Henri Desmarais), which he shot in just ten days on a modest $6,000 USD budget at the age of twenty-nine.
In 2015, he wrote and directed "Gros mots" (Bad Words), which won the New York Twenty-Four Hour Film Race and screened at festivals worldwide.
In 2019, his short film "La fin du monde" (The End of the World) premiered at the Sanford Independent Film Festival in Maine, further establishing his voice as a storyteller.
In 2025, he completed two new works, "Une tite frette" (A Cold One) and "Au Revoir" (See You Later), both now entering the film festival circuit.
